Should you be asked....

To take a meal to a family

Here are some things I've learned:
1) Mark it on your calendar so you don't forget.
2) Call the family and ask if they have any food allergies (this is vital!). Or food preferences (like if they've had spaghetti for the past three nights in a row...or have an extreme dislike to cooked vegetables...) Ask if there any foods they need to avoid (for nursing moms or someone that came out of surgery).
3) Let them know a time you will be by to bring their food.
4) Be wary of spicy foods, unless you know they would love it.

Here are some ideas you can make (submitted by friends and family):
Baked spaghetti
Crock pot meals (lasagna, chicken, etc)...
Chicken and rice casseroles
Fettuccine Alfredo, bread sticks, salad
Tacos with all the fixin's
Chicken or beef enchiladas
Shepard's pie
BBQ chicken, mashed potatoes, baked beans
Sandwiches and potato salad (have the deli meats, cheese, bread, lettuce, tomatoes, separate so they can make their own)
Tator tot casserole
Teriyaki chicken and rice
Stuffed manicotti
Chicken broccoli and rice casserole
Spaghetti pie
Soups
Stews

Here are some ideas you can buy:
Pizza
Rotisserie chicken with potato salad, rolls
A meal from their favorite restaurant

Have any other ideas? Leave me a comment or send me an email. I'll add it to the list. I love hearing what you've had or would take.

Ok, how about Chinese food, Sub sandwiches, or something simple as potato soup and biscuits (Krissy has a wonderful recipe for easy potato soup using boxed potatoes so you don't even have to cut the potatoes!) What about that hamburger, tomato, noodle, and peas skillet dinner your mom makes? Or ham, hashbrown casserole, green beans, and rolls?
What about the homemade chicken noodle soup your mom makes? Or the mexican chicken casserole we all make with the soup, rotell, cheese, chicken, tortillas, sour cream-have it with yellow rice and salad. yummy that sounds good, may have that for dinner! What about your mom's mexican rice? Or brats and german potato salad? Or what about good old KFC, Arby's, or Wendy's salad? It's lunch time, can you tell? :-)

These are great ideas! What is the recipe for the Mexican chicken casserole made with Rotel? That sounds really good.
